Milwaukee – July 3, 2012 – The law firm of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. is pleased to announce that Gina Carter has been recognized by her peers for her legal expertise in litigation by being named to Benchmark Litigation’s Top 250 Women in Litigation list.

Top 250 Women in Litigation is the first magazine devoted to honoring the achievements and issues facing female trial lawyers in the United States. The female litigators were selected on the basis of peer reviews conducted for the 2012 edition of Benchmark Litigation, the parent publication of Top 250 Women in Litigation. Female local litigation stars from each of the 50 states plus the District of Columbia are listed in this guide.

Benchmark Litigation is the definitive guide to America’s leading litigation firms and attorneys, and is the only publication on the market to focus exclusively on litigation in the United States. The guide identifies firms and attorneys who have displayed the ability to consistently handle complex, high-stakes cases in multiple jurisdictions. The guide’s results are the culmination of a six-month research period that allows researchers to conduct extensive interviews with litigators and their clients. During these interviews, recent casework is examined and sources are asked to offer their professional opinions on litigators practicing within their state or national practice areas.

Carter is an attorney in the Madison office of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. where she serves as Chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. She has litigated patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret cases in federal courts across the country. Carter advises a wide array of clients, including high technology manufacturers, computer software manufacturers, media companies and trade associations, on all aspects of intellectual property law protection and rights enforcement. She has lectured and published extensively on intellectual property, e-commerce, and international law issues and has taught copyright law at the University of Wisconsin Law School. She received her B.S., cum laude, from Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service, and her J.D., with honors, from Georgetown University Law Center.

Carter has been recognized for her achievements many times during her career. Some of these honors include: ranked in Chambers USA as a Leading Lawyer for Business in Intellectual Property, Advising and Litigation since 2005; selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in AmericaÆ in Intellectual Property Law and Litigation-Patent 2012; received the Wisconsin Law Journal’s Women In The Law Award; named to the Wisconsin Super Lawyers list; named a Best Intellectual Property Lawyer by Madison Magazine; and named Dane County’s Outstanding Professional Woman of the Year.

Carter is a member of the American Intellectual Property Association; a board member of ALFA International and a member of the Business Litigation, International Law and Intellectual Property Practice Groups; a member of the American Bar Association International Law and Intellectual Property Law Sections; an advisory board member of the University of Wisconsin E-Business Consortium; and is past Chair of the International Law Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin. Carter also serves on a number of civic and charitable boards, including the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, A Fund for Women, and the American Players Theatre.

“WHD is extremely proud of Gina for being named to Benchmark Litigation’s Top 250 Women in Litigation list,” said WHD’s Chief Executive Paul Eberle. “Her range and depth of litigation experience, along with her commitment to client service is no doubt why she has received this recognition.”
