Voces de la Frontera: Update – Palermo workers union boycott

Actions at Costco are ON for August 25th in 15 cities across the county!

Palermo’s workers urgently need allies to come out in solidarity on Saturday, August 25th. The Palermo’s Workers Union is calling on all Madison and Milwaukee area allies to mobilize supporters to walk with striking workers at the Costco in Grafton, WI, next Saturday, August 25th from 12:00pm – 1:30pm

This is a National Day of Action with solidarity demonstrations at Costco locations in Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix, Washington, D.C., Montgomery, Portland, Middleton, WI, and other cities.

Costco is the largest distributor of Palermo’s pizza under the “Kirkland” brand, and their Supplier Code of Conduct specifically requires workplace safety standards, and a “continuing commitment to the protection and improvement of employees’ rights,” among other pro-labor practices. As part of the consumer boycott campaign, allies are asking Costco to remove Palermo’s products and cancel contracts until Palermo’s complies with the Supplier Code of Conduct.

Workers are telling Costco that mobilizing for a National Day of Action on August 25 continues, unless substantial progress can be made to resolve the issues.
