UW-Whitewater: Innovation Center celebrates first anniversary

State, city and university leaders will join the business community on Wednesday, March 14, to celebrate the achievements of the Innovation Center at Whitewater University Technology Park.

The building, located on the city’s east side, opened one year ago and is a leading hub of innovation, entrepreneurship and business growth in southeast Wisconsin.

“As we enter our second year, we will continue to assemble a world-class human and technological infrastructure to meet the needs of entrepreneurs, start-ups and emerging companies,” said Robert Young, executive director.

Young will be joined by UW-Whitewater Chancellor Richard Telfer, Whitewater City Manager Kevin Brunner, Director of Research and Sponsored Programs Denise Ehlen and Blackthorne Capital Management’s Patrick Nadler.

The Innovation Center is more than 70 percent occupied, according to Young, and tenants are attracted by the abundant expert resources due to UW-Whitewater’s partnership.

The Innovation Center has received accolades from the U.S. Green Building Council, Build Wisconsin, and the International Economic Development Council.

The first anniversary event begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 14. Tours of the facility will follow the formal program. A map and directions can be found here: http://www.whitewatertechpark.org/directions.html
