Spencers to bring theatre of illusion show to Stevens Point

A night of magic and spectacle is coming to Stevens Point on Tuesday, March 13.

The “Spencers: Theatre of Illusion” show will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Theatre@1800 (Sentry Insurance headquarters) as part of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Performing Arts Series. Featuring husband and wife team, Kevin and Cindy Spencer, the production is filled with never-seen-before illusions that include dramatic spectacle, interaction, danger and personality.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens and $6 for youth. UW-Stevens Point students with ID may buy tickets in advance for $4.50 or be admitted free the day of the show if seats remain. Tickets may be purchased through the University Information and Tickets Office in the Dreyfus University Center, 715-346-4100 or 800-838-3378. Visa, MasterCard and Discover are accepted.

The Spencers are known for redefining the art of illusion and shattering the stereotype of the traditional magician and assistant. They are the only artists in history to be named Performing Arts Entertainers of the Year for a record-breaking six consecutive years and have twice been named America’s Best Entertainers. They have also been named International Magicians of the Year and have won other performance awards.

The Spencers also visit hospitals, schools and other facilities around the world to work with the physically challenged through a special program called Healing of Magic, which teaches illusion skills as a rehabilitation tool. Now implemented in more than 2,000 facilities in more than 30 countries, the program earned them the Harry Chapin Award for Contributions to Humanity.
