MADISON – The University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation, Inc. (UWMF), which represents UW physicians, and Physicians Plus Insurance Corporation (Physicians Plus) are pleased to announce a three-year provider contract agreement has been reached between them.
The UWMF-Physicians Plus contract was set to expire December 31, 2012. The contract will now continue through December 31, 2015.

While the parties have agreed that specific terms of the contract will be confidential, in general:
* Services rendered to Physicians Plus members at all UWMF locations will not require prior approval.
* The Physicians Plus new care navigation prior approval process will continue. However, Physicians Plus will modify the process to permit access for its members, without prior approval, to a limited number of UW physicians and other practitioners who work at specialty clinics at UW Hospital and Clinics locations. Access without prior approval for clinic visits and their related routine laboratory tests and x-rays will be available for obstetrics and midwifery, gynecology, and gynecologic oncology, and a wide range of pediatric specialty services. Prior approval will be needed for all other services, including hospitalizations, in the above-specified specialties. Physicians Plus will require prior approval for all other outpatient services and all inpatient services at UW Hospital and Clinics locations, and will not approve access to primary care physicians at UW Hospital and Clinics locations.
* The new agreement ends all legal disputes between the two organizations.
