Press conference with Lt. Gov. Kleefisch, and filmmaker and Wauwatosa native, Dan Hayes to be held at Miller Park at 10 a.m.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (July 20, 2012) — Stars and Stripes Honor Flight Milwaukee, in cooperation with the stockholders of We Energies, are making final preparations for “Field of Honor: A Salute to the Greatest Generation,” an event not to be missed at Miller Park on August 11. This amazing event seeks to re-unite World War II veterans and to honor these men and women by showing the world premiere feature length film, “Honor Flight.” The film, produced by Freethink Media, captures the stories, spirit and wisdom of living World War II veterans. As if this wasn’t going to be exciting enough, Stars and Stripes Honor Flight will be attempting to set a Guiness World Record for attendance to a feature length movie premiere.

In anticipation of the event, filmmaker Dan Hayes and Field of Honor Chairman of the Board Joseph Dean, will show a preview of the film and discuss the event, including the number of tickets sold to date the number needed to beat the record. Lt. Gov. Kleefisch will be attendance to speak to 2012 as the Year of the Veteran and Wisconsin’s commitment to remembering our nation’s heroes. Harvey Daniels, a 100-year-old World War II veteran from Milwaukee, Wis. will also be available to share his experiences and what this event means to him. The “star veterans” of the movie will also be present for interviews.

In addition to the documentary, the event will feature classic Wisconsin tailgating with veterans, World War II re-enactors, live music and a special viewing of the Pillars of Honor World War II Memorial before it goes to the Smithsonian. Grace Weber will perform the National Anthem as well as her hit single “Leave the Light On.” Special appearances will also be made by the U.S. Navy Leap Frogs Parachute Demonstration Team and the Lima Lima Flight Demonstration Team, the world’s only original six aircraft civilian formation aerobatic team.

All proceeds from “Field of Honor” will ensure that Stars and Stripes Honor Flight can continue to fly veterans to Washington, D.C. to see the memorials that stand in their honor.
