Citizens & Businesses Highlight Issues for St. Croix, Dunn, Pierce & Polk Counties

The Economic Development Corporations (EDCs) and Chambers from St. Croix, Dunn, Pierce, Polk counties will travel to Madison on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 to advocate legislative priorities for the Greater St. Croix Valley. The event is free and is open to citizens, businesses, and business groups who are willing to travel to and from Madison to meet key legislators, committee chairs, cabinet secretaries, and policy advisors.

Citizen advocacy events are popular ways to engage citizens and businesses in grassroots activism. Annual legislative trips to Madison serve multiple purposes, including awareness building for the Greater St. Croix Valley and advocating 5-6 legislative priorities in hopes they will be approved or moved up the calendar. La Crosse, Superior, and the Chippewa Valley have set aside a day (or days) to travel to Madison with their respective legislative issues.

A preliminary agenda calls for the Greater St. Croix Valley group to arrive in Madison by 11 a.m. for an orientation on the issues. Legislative appointments in groups of two or three people run throughout the afternoon. By 4 p.m. the event concludes and participants can depart for home.
