MILWAUKEE (Apr. 30, 2012) – Mary Scheibel, principal and founder of Scheibel Halaska, a strategic marketing communications firm, has been selected as one of this year’s Women of Influence in the Entrepreneur category by the Business Journal of Greater Milwaukee. The program profiles Milwaukee-area women who are leaders in their fields and are making an impact in their professions and communities.

While leading her firm since it began 20 years ago, Scheibel continues to step forward as a leader throughout Milwaukee. The most notable of this leadership is her role as the 2011-2013 chair of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce’s (MMAC) Council of Small Business Executives. Working together with the Council’s 30 CEOs, Mary leads the group in developing strategies and programs designed to support the small business community and to strengthen the health and vitality of the Milwaukee region. She also continues to serve on the MMAC’s board of directors.

In addition, she serves on the Board of Directors and is a past-president of the Public Relations Society of America’s Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter. She is also on the Board of Directors of Second Chance Partners, a member of the board of TEMPO Milwaukee and is active in several other local organizations.

“As a business owner in Milwaukee, I’m thankful to have the opportunity to lead various initiatives that bring growth and prosperity to the region,” said Scheibel. “To be recognized as a woman of influence in my profession and the community is truly an honor.”

An ongoing contributor to several local business and trade publications, Scheibel speaks regularly on strategic marketing and public relations to various groups, including the Waukesha County Business Alliance, the Racine Area Manufacturers of Commerce, the MMAC, the Chicago area President’s Forum, the Plastics News Executive Forum and more.

“We congratulate Mary for her many accomplishments and thank her for participating in this year’s program,” said Mark Kass, editor of The Business Journal. Scheibel will be presented with the award during a June 15 ceremony at the Frontier Airlines Center.
