ROUGH Sportswear: Celebrates first anniversary with party and donation to Porchlight

MADISON, Wis. (December 7, 2012)—Madison-based ROUGH Sportswear is marking its first year in business by hosting a suite at the Kohl Center on December 12 during the UW Badgers vs. UW Green Bay basketball game.

Supporters and friends attending the event have been asked to give to Porchlight, an agency that provides emergency shelter, food, employment services, counseling, and affordable transitional and permanent housing to homeless people in the Dane County area.

“It’s apparent that with the cold weather and recent media coverage that Porchlight resources are strained. Helping them at this crucial time fits perfectly with the ROUGH mission,” states Trent Jackson, the CEO and a former UW Badger basketball player, referencing the company’s acronym that stands for Reach Out U Get Help and Reach Out U Give Help. “We are grateful we can give back in our first year of business.”

“The support from ROUGH Sportswear was a complete surprise to our agency,” according to Porchlight’s Executive Director Steven Schooler. “The team at Rough Sportswear just shocked us with their determination to help Porchlight, and the vulnerable homeless population we serve. The gifts this time of year that sustain our organization, they generate essential funds but also awareness and compassion, allowing us to offer emergency shelter as well as affordable housing throughout the year. We are so appreciative of the kindness shown by ROUGH Sportswear—they understand what we need as a nonprofit, and they’ve generated support in a very creative, fun way”

In 2012, ROUGH Sportswear and ROUGH Foundation has given unrestricted gifts to the Dane County Boys & Girls Club, Bolingbrook High School (IL), Big Brother Big Sister of Dane County, and the Dane County Rape Crisis Center.
