Madison, WI…The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) launched Facebook and Twitter pages today. Online users can follow the PSC on Twitter @PSCWisconsin and “Like” the PSC on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/PSCWisconsin.

The pages are intended to complement the PSC web site and provide easily-accessible information to the public about the PSC, open meetings, rate cases, construction projects, and news that impacts customers.

“We’re excited that Facebook and Twitter can help educate customers about the rapidly changing energy and telecommunications landscapes,” said Kristin Ruesch, PSC Communications Director. “Following the proceedings of the Public Service Commission via Facebook and Twitter is an easy way for the public to stay up-to-date, making the agency even more transparent and accessible.”

Because the PSC is a regulatory agency and Commissioners are subject to ex parte laws, the most important and appropriate way for the public to comment on pending cases can be still be accessed at the PSC Comments page at http://psc.wi.gov. Comments submitted in this manner will be included in the official record reviewed by Commissioners before deciding pending cases. Read the PSC Social Media Policy here: http://psc.wi.gov/mediaRoom/socialMediaPolicy.htm.

The Public Service Commission has long been a leader in online accessibility. In 2005, the PSC won the Digital Government Achievement Award for its Electronic Regulatory Filing (ERF) System which provides for the electronic submission of filed documents and online public access to these documents, including those submitted in formal cases before the Commission.
