MADISON, WIS. (June 13, 2012) – In honor of 100 years of service nationally, Perkins Coie Madison has made a special $10,000 charitable contribution to Porchlight. The firm hosted a special presentation at the rooftop of the Madison office on June 8, 2012.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer this gift to Porchlight, a pillar of our community,” said John Skilton, Madison Office Managing Partner. “We are proud to work with such an outstanding organization and raise awareness about homelessness in the area in which we work.”

Porchlight is the largest supplier of low-cost housing in Dane County and is comprised of an emergency shelter for men, housing and services for men and women suffering from serious mental illnesses, 172 single room or efficiency units and 55 family units. Every year Porchlight provides over 400 women, men and children with over 100,000 nights of shelters.

“We are very grateful for this gift from the Madison office of Perkins Coie,” said Beatrice Hadidian, Resource Development Director for Porchlight. “With this generous donation, we will be able to provide less shelters and more homes for those who need it most throughout Dane County.”

The law firm currently known as Perkins Coie LLP was founded in Seattle on May 1, 1912 by former U.S. District Court Judge George Donworth and former U.S. Attorney Elmer Todd. Over the years, Perkins Coie has evolved from serving a small number of key clients such as Boeing and Puget Sound Energy, which remain clients today, to representing a full range of companies – from start-ups to FORTUNE 100 corporations. The firm practices in more than 100 areas of law and in a wide array of industries.

The Madison office opened four years ago with a focus primarily on patent and other intellectual property litigation and insurance coverage matters. Clients range from local Madison-based biotech companies to high-tech corporations across the United States and in Europe and Asia. Madison often handles complex, technically challenging litigation facing companies today.
