Madison, WI, April 5th, 2012 – While many of the financial challenges in recent years have threatened the stability of certain economies throughout the world, the major markets of South America have had stable economic growth and have become strategic destinations for foreign investment. With Chile and Colombia’s linkages to the United States through Free Trade Agreements, and Brazil’s rise as one of the largest world economies, it is important for U.S. businesses to seek business opportunities in these markets.

On Tuesday April 10th 2012, the Madison International Trade Association (MITA) will host a luncheon program to address these issues and offer companies overview of some of the opportunities and strategies that need to be considered when into the South American markets.

Presenters at the event include Glaselyn Miller, International Sales Director for the Americas at Gilson, Inc.; Dr. Syed Akhter, Professor of Marketing, and Dr. Marcus Braga-Alves, Assistant Professor of Finance at Marquette University.

Registration deadline is Friday, April 6 and can be made at www.mitatrade.org or by contacting Stanley Pfrang at stanley.pfrang@Wisconsin.gov (608- 267-0639). The event will take place at the Madison Marriott West at 1313 John Q Hammons Drive. Registration and networking starts at 11:30 a.m.; followed by lunch at 12:00 pm; and presentations at 12:30 p.m.

The cost to attend is $25 for MITA members and $40 for non-members.
