MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele released the following statement on Frontier Airlines’ announcement it is trimming flights at Milwaukee County’s General Mitchell International Airport.

“While we’re disappointed Frontier Airlines is reducing flights in Milwaukee, we are pleased they will still offer service at Milwaukee County’s General Mitchell International Airport (MKE). We continue to work hard to keep MKE an attractive option to passengers and other airlines looking to grow their business.”

Last week Delta Airlines announced they are increasing business at MKE 20% and earlier this month American Airlines reinstated mainline MD-80 service between Milwaukee and Dallas/Ft. Worth, adding 98 seats each day on the route.

MKE remains a leading destination for travelers in Wisconsin, Chicago and northern Illinois. MKE served 2.2 million more passengers in 2011 than it did five years ago.
