MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele offered congratulations and thanks to Delta Air Lines today for enhancing its investments in the community and growing its presence at General Mitchell International Airport.

“Delta’s sponsorship of our downtown convention center is a big win for Milwaukee, as well as a brilliant move by Delta to market its expanding service from MKE,” Abele said. “Delta has a large, loyal customer base in Wisconsin and the northern Chicago area, and it’s clear that our airport is an important part of the Delta network. We look forward to Delta’s partnership with Milwaukee County for many years to come.”

In addition to purchasing naming rights for the convention center, Delta announced it will relocate its gates at the airport from their current location on Concourse E to Concourse D. The move to Concourse D offers a number of improvements for Delta’s operation, including additional gates for future growth, additional lanes at the security checkpoint, more food and retail options, and a larger Delta Sky Club.

“The mix of airlines serving Mitchell International offers travelers low airfares, affordable parking costs, and an outstanding travel experience,” Airport Director Barry Bateman added. “Delta’s improvements will build off of this success; we are proud they are investing in Milwaukee.”

Earlier this year, Delta launched new nonstop service from Milwaukee to New York-LaGuardia and to New York-JFK while increasing capacity on its nonstop service from Milwaukee to Atlanta and Detroit. Delta also serves its Minneapolis – St. Paul and Memphis hubs from Milwaukee.
