Germantown, Wisconsin– MGS Mfg. Group, Inc., a leading provider of engineered manufacturing solutions to the plastics industry, celebrated its 30th year in business on July 14, 2012.
Founded by Mark G. Sellers, the company began operations in 1982 as Moldmakers Incorporated. During the ensuing 10 years, Moldmakers Incorporated established an industry-leading reputation for building high quality injection mold systems with aggressive lead times. In the mid 1990’s, the company began investing in injection molding presses to offer customers a single source of supply for tooling and sampling services. The combination of on-site / in-house sampling services and short run production led to greater opportunities. In 1997, the company opened an 80,000 square foot injection molding facility across from its newly constructed corporate headquarters in Germantown, Wisconsin.
To provide increased manufacturing capabilities, a second injection molding facility opened in Libertyville, Illinois in 2000. During this time, MGS began manufacturing a proprietary and patented line of custom multishot injection equipment. This enabled the company to meet its own multiple material manufacturing needs and initiated an additional sales channel to other custom molders looking to expand their manufacturing services.
In 2006, MGS acquired a clean room injection molding facility in Antioch, Illinois. This acquisition facilitated the company’s growth in the valuable healthcare industry. In 2008, MGS acquired an existing molding facility in Chihuahua, Mexico, which now provides injection and blow molding services to the automotive, consumer and electronics markets in Mexico.
In 2011, the company expanded its automation division moving it to its own dedicated facility a few miles from corporate headquarters. That same year, MGS opened its first facility outside of North America. Located in Leixlip, Ireland, the 45,000 square foot facility produces products for the technology, electronics, consumer and healthcare markets.
MGS Mfg. Group’s sales in 2011 were the highest in its history, generating over $153 million in revenue. MGS continues to invest in state-of-the-art-equipment for both the tool making and injection molding businesses. This, along with the significant resources invested in research and development, has allowed MGS to grow with its customers by providing innovative manufacturing solutions.
