Madison Children’s Museum: Full ‘steam’ ahead for Feb. 10 Adult Swim at MCM

MADISON, Wis. (Wednesday, January 11, 2012) ― Do you love speaking with a British accent? How about wearing a corset, goggles, or an ensemble accented with clock gears? Last question: Do you enjoy sipping on absinthe?

If you answered “yes” to the questions above, then join our time-traveling revelers for a grand evening of neo-Victorian fun at Madison Children’s Museum’s next edition of Adult Swim! The theme for this event, from 6–10 p.m. Friday, February 10, is Steampunk Cabaret. Activities will include cabaret music by local contemporary chamber ensemble New Music Everywhere (aka New MUSE), immersion actors from TeslaCon, jewelry making, fortune telling and tarot card reading, a costume contest, and more.

Adult Swim is a bimonthly fundraiser that honors the public pool tradition of kicking the kids out so adults can have the space to themselves. Grownups get the chance to be young for the evening, crawling, sliding, and dancing their way through the night.

Beer, wine, and Roman Candle pizza will be available for purchase. Guests also can find their way through the Hodgepodge Mahal climber, drive the Punch Buggy, take a spin in the Gerbil Wheel, and view the work of more than 120 local artists throughout the new museum.

Adults 21 and up are welcome. Tickets include access to the museum’s exhibits and to the band. A valid ID will be required to enter the event. Tickets are $12 and available at . Gather a group of friends or co-workers, or bring your family or significant other. All ages of adults are welcome! Past events have sold out well in advance, so buy your tickets now.
