Madison, WI / March 16, 2012 / PR Newswire/Beth Viney, originally from Tomah, WI, accepted the prestigious nomination for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Champions of Hope/Man & Woman of the Year Fundraising Campaign. She is currently employed by Affiliated Communications of Wisconsin, a strong supporter of the campaign. Beth is joined by fourteen other area team members who have an aggressive goal of raising $50,000 in just ten weeks.

“After volunteering for five years in the Pet Pals program at UW/American Family Children’s Hospital, I have seen firsthand, the physical and emotional toll which cancer takes on children of all ages, and the families that love them. Their tenacity and grace, in the face of tremendous adversity, is humbling, inspiring, and is my personal motivation to help raise as many funds as possible,” said Viney.

The Champions of Hope/Man & Woman of the Year Campaign will specifically focus on raising funds for children afflicted with Leukemia, Lymphoma and other types of blood cancers. More information on the organization and campaign itself, and the incredible people which it serves who are stricken with these life threatening diseases, as well as continued research for a cure can be found at www.lls.org or www.mwoy.org/wi/localchapter/cc/.

The campaign dates are March 22 – June 1, with the Finale Gala on June 1 at The Concourse Hotel in Madison, WI. This will be an incredible event with dinner, music, silent and live auction, and will culminate the efforts of all candidates for the ten week period. Online donations can be accepted beginning midnight on March 22 at http://wi.mwoycc.llsevent.org/bethviney.

All donations are 100% tax deductable. Every dollar raised during this campaign will count as one vote, and the candidate who raises the most funds, will be named the Capital City Man or Woman of the Year. However, the true winners will be the recipients of LLS funding and research.

Businesses can also participate by sponsoring the Gala event and/or donating silent auction items. For more information, call or email Beth Viney at 608-235-7269 or bviney@affiliatedcom.com.
