Jet Air Group: Flight training certification takes Jet Air to new heights

Flight training certification takes Jet Air to new heights

(Green Bay, WI) Jet Air Group has taken another step in expanding its flight training program by earning the FAA’s Part 141 certification.

With this new certification, students will have the option of taking flight training on one of two paths. “Jet Air currently offers flight training under FAA Part 61 which is a more relaxed curriculum where a student can set their own pace,” said Joseph Saunders, Director of Operations for Jet Air’s flight department. “Training offered under Part 141 is a more structured curriculum.”

Students who chose to receive their training under Part 141 will follow FAA-approved course outlines and must meet a certain standard of student performance rates. “Because the training will be done under a more structured environment, fewer flight training hours are required,” Saunders commented. “It also means that students do not have to go through the usual check ride when coursework is completed. Those that complete the training are certified pilots.”

Jet Air has been a partner with Lakeland College and its minor in aviation since 2010. “Jet Air receiving Part 141 Certification is a significant positive in the development of our aviation program,” said Joe McGeorge, Lakeland’s instructor of aviation. “Lakeland has a long tradition of serving international students, and 141 certification will allow us to recruit a new population of students to enroll in our program. It also sends a message to students about the strength of our curriculum.”

Achieving Part 141 certification is a project Jet Air has been working on for several months. “All of our coursework and training manuals went through an FAA audit and will continue to have FAA oversight which will strengthen what we offer and set us apart from other flight training programs,” Saunders commented. “It’s been a lot of work, but very worth it.”

Jet Air will start offering Part 141 training in the fall as classes resume at Lakeland College. “141 certification is not limited to college students,” Saunders explained. “This training is open to anyone who is looking to participate whether you are a college student or have always wanted to learn to fly.”
