The IRONMAN Foundation’s contribution will provide support local nonprofit needs and initiatives within the community.

The IRONMAN Foundation will donate $35,000 to the Greater Madison Sports Commission at the 2012 IRONMAN Wisconsin, taking place on Sept. 9. This grant provides financial assistance to at-risk youth, connecting them to sports activities that offer lifelong enjoyment and health benefits. The IRONMAN Foundation will also donate $30,000 in grants to nonprofits groups in the community to support their initiatives.

In addition to allocating funds back into the Greater Madison community, The IRONMAN Foundation provides athletes with the platform to fundraise for a nonprofit beneficiary of their choice as they train for their IRONMAN event. More than 25 athletes have signed up to participate in The IRONMAN Foundation’s “Your Journey, Your Cause” program during the Sept. 9 event. These athletes have been touched by something greater than themselves and are fundraising to make their race experience more than just crossing the finish line – they are racing for a cause. Collectively they have raised over $60,000 for their respective causes.
