Security solution will help law enforcement agencies comply with federal security mandates
GREEN BAY, WIS. – Sept. 18, 2012 – The next generation of technology solutions for law enforcement will be on display Sept. 19, 8 a.m.-6 p.m., during the 2012 Wisconsin Crime Information Bureau Conference at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center in Green Bay. Heartland Business Systems, based in Little Chute, Wis., and Entrust, based in Dallas, will unveil the technology solutions to a group of more than 300 police chiefs and state law enforcement officials gathered for the annual event.
The 2012 event is noteworthy because the FBI mandates for its Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) go into effect in 2013. Those mandates will require local and state law enforcement agencies to be in compliance with the CJIS Advanced Authentication requirements, designed to safeguard information in order to access the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database.
Entrust and Heartland Business Systems collaborated on the design and implementation of the turn-key authentication solution that addresses specific CJIS policy requirements for authorized access to sensitive information from non-secure locations, such as a police cruiser.
“Our partnership with Heartland Business Systems is a critical step that will enable these agencies to easily and cost-effectively comply with the FI’s CJIS policy,” said Entrust President and CEO Bill Conner.
“The solution we have developed with Entrust will help provide law enforcement agencies with the proper security capabilities to authenticate user identities and safeguard sensitive information about citizens, ongoing cases, evidence and more,” said Heartland Business Systems Principal Peter Helander. At the 2012 CIB Conference, Entrust Director of Product Management Mark A. Joynes will discuss “Meeting the CJIS Advanced Authentication Requirements” at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 in the Oneida Room. With 25 years of experience and expertise in law enforcement and security, Joynes is considered a leading national expert on operational security policy and management across both private and public sector organizations. Prior to joining Entrust, he provided operational guidance for government secure-systems deployment, certification and accreditation consulting in law enforcement, defense and intelligence environments.
In addition, Joynes will conduct advanced authentication demonstrations in the CIB Conference Ballroom at the Heartland Business Systems exhibit area, Booth 16, from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sept. 19.
