Green Bay Trucking Company Goes Green With the Green Masters Program

Schneider National earned Green Professional status under the WI Sustainable Business Council’s Green Masters program for their ongoing commitment to sustainability.

The trucking company, which focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving fuel efficiency and upgrading its facilities’ energy efficiency, earned more than 100 points to qualify for the Green Professional status.

“Schneider National has implemented creative strategies which define them as a leader in sustainability,” says Tom Eggert, Executive Director of the WI Sustainable Business Council. “Schneider National has made going green personal in terms of their strategy. They’ve adopted environmental and social programs that benefit their communities, employees and their customers.”

“Schneider National is proud that our environmental programs are seen as some of the best in Wisconsin and the industry,” said Steve Matheys, Executive Vice President and Chief Administration Officer for Schneider National. “With more than 13,000 trucks on the road, operating as efficiently as possible is critical for our planet, our shippers and our own organization’s overall sustainability. Our drivers understand that responsibility and do a tremendous job of conserving energy resources every day.”

The Green Professional designation is the second highest tier in the Green Masters Program established by the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council. Candidates are judged on a comprehensive range of sustainability issues from energy and natural resource use to education outreach and purchasing. Over 90 Wisconsin businesses have participated in the program where the top twenty percent achieve the highest “Green Master” designation.
