Miles Kimball recently received Green Professional Status under the Green Masters Program. Jim Eckberg, Facilities and Safety Leader of the company comments on the achievement: “Our team members have eagerly embraced our green efforts from the beginning, and we are very proud to see those efforts recognized by receiving the Green Professional designation. Sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint are a way of life for us here at Miles Kimball Company.”

Miles Kimball Company is a leader in the catalog order business, located in Oshkosh, WI. The company has three distinct catalogs, offering cards, gifts, household items, and food. They have invested $150,000 to update lighting in their distribution centers, resulting in a reduction in their CO2 footprint by 2,322,920 lbs annually. They have also successfully reduced their paper usage. They use 60% post consumer packaging materials, use light-weight paper products and actively recycle throughout the year. Between 2004-2007 Miles Kimball saved 10,191 trees, enough energy to power 240 homes and 10,219,474 gallons of water. These measures clearly did not go unnoticed.

Tom Eggert, Director of the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council, commends Miles Kimball for their dedication and implementation of energy saving measures. “Miles Kimball has exemplified what the Green Masters Program is all about. They committed to these meaningful efforts and have expressed interest in continuing forward in the realm of sustainability.”

In fact, Eckberg says “Our goal is to continue to partner with the Green Masters Program, looking to continually enhance our sustainability efforts.”

The Green Professional designation is the second highest tier in the Green Masters Program established by the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council. Candidates are judged on a comprehensive range of sustainability issues from energy and natural resource use to education outreach and purchasing. 94 Wisconsin businesses have participated in the program where the top twenty percent achieve the highest “Green Master” designation.
