MILWAUKEE –Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. is proud to announce that one of its founding partners Gerald J. Kahn was honored with the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award at the Wisconsin Law Journal’s Leaders in the Law awards ceremony.

Honorees were selected for this distinction based on a wide variety of achievement criteria, including outstanding leadership, vision and legal expertise in Wisconsin’s law community. The winners were recognized at a cocktail reception at the Milwaukee Hilton City Center.

Kahn was both an attorney and a certified public accountant. He focused his practice on estate planning, corporate and tax law. Kahn received his preparatory education at the University of Wisconsin Business School. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he was executive editor of the Wisconsin Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. He was admitted to practice law in Wisconsin in 1952. Kahn was formerly attorney-advisor to the Tax Court of the United States in Washington, D.C. He was also a member of the Milwaukee Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Wisconsin.

Together with Dudley J. Godfrey Jr., Kahn founded the law firm of Godfrey & Kahn in 1957. From those beginnings, the firm has grown to more than 180 lawyers and is one of Wisconsin’s leading business law firms.
