Executive Leadership Summit for Higher Education

Madison, Wis. (June 25, 2012) – For the seventh year, Edgewood College is hosting ‘Aspiring to the Presidency,’ a leadership symposium for those who may be considering a college or university presidency in their career. Guests from across the country arrived Sunday, June 24 for the three-day workshop.

The symposium is designed to help mid- and senior-level college and university administrators as they consider whether to pursue the post of president. Past participants have included provosts, vice presidents, deans and other administrators. Several have since become college and university presidents. This year’s attendees are from both public and private institutions and represent both two- and four-year institutions. Nearly half of those attending this year are women.

The conference explores the characteristics and roles of a successful president, how one acquires the necessary skills and prepares to apply for the role, how the role of president can be a rewarding vocation and how the right presidential fit can make a difference in the lives of others.
Symposium attendees will have the opportunity to meet individually with personnel from a higher education search firm, and with executive contract and compensation consultants.
