MILWAUKEE – The law firm of DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C. today announced that Joseph T. Miotke was appointed President Elect to the Wisconsin Intellectual Property Law Association (WIPLA), one of the oldest Intellectual Property Associations in the country. Miotke currently serves on the Board of Directors as its Secretary and Treasurer.
“I am excited to serve in this role and assist in continuing to provide networking and educational opportunities for WIPLA members,” said Miotke. WIPLA serves as a resource to professionals in the field of Intellectual Property (IP) and focuses on all matters related to it, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, prosecution, litigation, licensing and other related fields. It is run by IP professionals who volunteer their time and energy to help provide networking and leadership to the association.
Miotke is a patent litigator with more than ten years of experience in the field of intellectual property law. He is one of the only attorneys in the state who is well versed in intellectual property monetization. His uniquely diverse background, combining patent litigation, patent prosecution, intellectual property transaction and intellectual property monetization, enables him to advise clients with a complete perspective of the IP landscape. He has been part of the patent litigation teams securing verdicts and settlements in excess of $150 million and is a frequent presenter on the topic of IP monetization.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Marquette University and graduated from Marquette University Law School, magna cum laude, where he earned his J.D. He is a resident of Shorewood.
