MADISON, Wis. (May 11, 2012) — Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch will join Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett at a news conference at the Potawatomi Bingo Casino Stage and Pavilion in downtown Milwaukee on May 15. They will present marketing sponsorships to African World Festival and Mexican Fiesta.

The sponsorships will assist in increasing the marketing reach of both festivals outside the Milwaukee area and into Chicago and Northern Illinois. Through targeting multicultural travelers in nearby markets, there is the opportunity to attract new visitors and additionally introduce festivalgoers to everything else Wisconsin has to offer.

African World Festival is a celebration of African-American heritage and culture held at Henry W. Maier Festival Park in Milwaukee. Since its inception in 1982, the festival’s mission has been to promote and share the culture and heritage of all people of African descent with the global community.

Mexican Fiesta brings the sound, culture, and taste of Mexico to Milwaukee’s lakefront. Mexican Fiesta is more than just a celebration; it is a cultural foundation concentrating on providing education and cultural events for the growing Hispanic community.

Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett, Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, African World Festival Executive Director Michelle Bryant, Mexican Fiesta Executive Director Teresa Mercado, and Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. President and CEO Don Smiley will all be in attendance and available for questions.
