Award-Winning Guide to Dane County Land, Roads, Parks, Ready for Public

The 2012 Dane County Plat Book, an award-winning guide to the county’s landscape, is complete and available for sale to the public, Dane County Executive Joe Parisi announced today.

The annual guide provides detailed information about land ownership, approximate parcel size, and county and town roads. It also shows the locations of Dane County parks, publicly owned lands, churches, schools, cemeteries and municipal halls. Other unique features of the book include an ownership and road name index and aerial photos of jurisdictions.

“Dane County’s award winning plat book is a great resource for anyone who wants to learn more about our county’s rich landscapes,” said Parisi. “It continues the Planning and Development Department’s work to make more information easily accessible to planning professionals and the public at large.”

The 2012 plat book was developed and produced by the Dane County Planning and Development Department. The 2010 version of the Dane County plat book was recognized as the best in the state at the Spring 2011 Wisconsin Land Information Association Conference with a blue ribbon “Best in Class” award in the “Map Books & Atlases category”.

The plat book was created entirely in-house, helping to reduce production costs for the county while maintaining the integrity and value of this important resource. The project was led by a team of Dane County Planning and Development Department staff members including GIS Specialist Aaron Krebs and Senior Planner Curt Kodl. The entire Records and Support Division within the Department assisted with production.

The award-winning book costs $28.50 (tax included) and is available at the Dane County Planning & Development Department, Room 116 in the City County Building at 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Bld.
