American Speed Association: ASAMT kicks off second half of season at Madison International Speedway

This Sunday, August 5th marks the half-way point for the ASA Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment and Lester Buildings. Teams will head back to where their season began at Madison International Speedway.

Madison International Speedway is the perfect place to lead into the the second half of the season for the ASAMT. It is where it all got started with the first race of the season. Drivers like Chris Wimmer, Chris Weinkauf, Nathan Haseleu and Skylar Holzhausen are all looking for their first win of the year.

In the season opener at Madison International Speedway, 2011 ASAMT Champion Andrew Morrissey won his first ever ASAMT event. Since his victory in that first race, Andrew has been struggling to stay in the top five. Will Madison bring him back to victory lane and turn the second half of his season around?

Point leader, Jonathan Eilen has been the the king of consistency so far this season but has never put it in victory lane at MIS. He will have to maintain his consistency to stay on top of the point standings and with three of the top five in points having been to victory lane at Madison International Speedway, Eilen and the rest of the drivers will have their work cut out for them. Wimmer, Haseleu and Morrissey have all been to victory lane but all the drivers will be on the hunt for that mid-season victory.

Out of the first six races so far this season there have been just as many winners. As teams head into the second half of the season, this event could be the turning point for many. With a tight points battle, getting off on the right foot for the remaining events is key and Madison International Speedway is just the place to do it.

You do not want to miss this race as the drivers of the ASAMT kick off segment two of the 2012 season. Will there be a first repeat winner, will point leader Jonathan Eilen get his first win at MIS, will Andrew Morrissey make it two in a row, or will we see yet another new winner?

The only way you can find out is by heading out to the track this coming Sunday, August 5th. Follow asamidwesttour.com for race day details.
