MADISON – The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) announced four international market activities for 2012 to help Wisconsin businesses explore and access exports to support job growth in the state. The WEDC will hold a Wisconsin International Directors Visit in May and International Business Development Missions to India, Southeast Asia and South America. Below are brief descriptions of the trade activities.

The Wisconsin International Directors Visit is May 7-11, 2012. Representatives of Wisconsin’s four international trade offices in Canada, Mexico, Brazil and China will meet directly with Wisconsin exporters and give presentations on export opportunities in their respective markets. Directors will deliver market-specific presentations at the Wisconsin International Trade Conference May 8, 2012, in Milwaukee. Final dates for meetings in Madison, Manitowoc/Sheboygan and Eau Claire will be determined at a later date.

The International Business Development Mission to India is scheduled for spring of 2012. WEDC will lead a 15-member business delegation to India to seize export opportunities in India’s rapidly expanding water and waste water market. The mission will include visits to New Delhi, Mumbai and possibly a third stop in Chennai, Bangalore or Hyderabad. The mission includes market briefings; individualized business meetings with potential customers; facility tours and first-hand market intelligence on exporting; investment and R&D opportunities; and participation in Aquatech India 2012, a leading international water technology show. The WEDC is partnering with the Water Council on this mission. Recruitment will begin mid-November. Learn more about the mission at http://wedc.org/ibdindia.

Participants will receive a market briefing in each location and have individualized business meetings with prospective representatives, distributors, clients and customers in each country. The trade mission will also feature special water-specific briefings; and government and industry meetings for companies involved in that industry.
