The Wisconsin Builders Association (WBA) congratulates the Department of Natural Resources bold restructuring plan to remodel as Wisconsin’s first enterprise agency. Bringing a business sense to create efficiencies that save time and money with more customer service and less bureaucracy will provide a much needed uplift to an already burdened housing industry.

“During a time in the home building industry when builders and developers have had to change the way they do business, often doing more with less, we applaud the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR) efforts to streamline the way they do business” said Jerry Deschane, WBA executive vice president. “Under the leadership of Secretary Cathy Stepp we are confident that this new way of doing business will help protect the environment while providing better consumer service to those who provide shelter to our friends and neighbors.”

WBA President Don Esposito further commented “the dedication and commitment to continuous improvement shown by the entire DNR staff from the field level on up to senior management is admirable. Builders and developers across the state interact with the DNR frequently, sometimes with regulatory processes that overlap and duplicate one another. The restructuring appears to us to be a long-overdue effort to make Wisconsin’s largest regulatory agency function more efficiently. That will benefit the environment, the economy, and the citizens of Wisconsin.”
