MANY NEW FOOD CHOICES

(Madison, WI, April 1, 2011) The Vilas Zoo food stands open for the season Friday, April 1…no fooling!

In addition to the old favorites…great hamburgers and hot dogs, brats, crisp French fries and nachos…and, of course, popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones and ice cream…this year a number of new food choices will be introduced in May: freshly grilled cheese sandwiches, Philly steak, ham and Cajun chicken sandwiches, and humus wraps. Fresh fruit and other healthy snack choices will also be available.

The Carousel will be running, weather permitting.

Train rides will start when the weather cooperates. A new, extended train track will be poured as soon as the ground thaws.

Carousel and train rides stay at $1 for children and adults…lowest in the country!

As always, there is no admission charge at your Zoo, and parking is always free as well.

Last year over 725,000 children of all ages visited “The Best Small Zoo in the World.”

Zoo hours are 9:30 to 5:00 daily.

The Friends of the Zoo’s purpose is to build community support and provide funding for Henry Vilas Zoo improvements. This includes the acquisition, conservation, and replacement of animals; refurbishing and creating new exhibits; supporting educational programs; and improving the overall educational and recreational value of the zoo.
