U.S. Cellular: Tops J.D. Power and Associates call quality ranking for the 11th consecutive time

CHICAGO (March 22, 2011) – U.S. Cellular customers in Wisconsin continue to enjoy the highest quality calls on their wireless phones, according to the J.D. Power and Associates U.S. 2011 Wireless Call Quality Performance StudySM – Volume 1.

This is the 11th reporting period in a row that U.S. Cellular has received the J.D. Power and Associates award for highest call quality performance among wireless cell phone users in the North Central Region, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio. Compared to the regional average, U.S. Cellular customers have fewer customer-reported problems with dropped calls, failed initial connections, interference and delayed notification of text messages than any other service provider, according to the study.

Reported twice a year, the J.D. Power and Associates Wireless Call Quality Performance Study evaluates wireless call quality based on seven problem areas wireless customers experience that impact overall carrier performance: dropped calls; static/interference; failed call connection on first try; voice distortion; echoes; no immediate voice mail notification; and no immediate text message notification.

Earlier this year, U.S. Cellular was also recognized as a J.D. Power 2011 Customer Service Champion. To identify this elite list of 40 companies, J.D. Power evaluated more than 800 brands. Companies were identified based on customer feedback, opinions and perceptions gathered primarily from J.D. Power’s syndicated research as well as additional, supplemental research.
