(Beloit, WI) – WI Governor Scott Walker and US Congressman Don Manzullo (R-IL) shared their appreciation for agriculture and the economic impact of exports at the Stateline World Trade Association’s (SLWTA) dinner meeting on April 28, 2011, at the Beloit Inn.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker presented the SLWTA World Trade Award to The DeLong Co., Inc. of Clinton, WI. The DeLong Co., Inc. is a sixth generation family-owned agricultural business that started over 100 years ago to serve the farming industry. The firm operates 15 locations in 3 states, supplying fertilizers and feeds and also storing and exporting feed and grains. Over the past three years, The DeLong Co. has exported over $2 billion of agricultural products.

U.S. Congressman Don Manzullo (R-IL) presented the SLWTA World Trade Award to the Furst-McNess Company of Eleroy, IL. Furst-McNess also has a 100 plus year history in northern Illinois, and recently expanded into the export industry with a focus on the containerized exports of DDGS (Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles) and other feedstuffs to Southeast Asia.

Wisconsin Secretary of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP) Ben Brancel joined his talented staff of export assistance, economic development and value-added agriculture specialists to honor the award winners and reach out to attendees with information regarding the capabilities of DATCP.

“With the right team, companies can find growth opportunities in international markets. Growing populations and demand in the global market place can create high quality local jobs and grow the regional economy,” stated Representative Amy Loudenbeck (R-Clinton), SLWTA Vice President and Awards Committee Chairman.

“The SLWTA is committed to providing the knowledge and resources for companies to grow and prosper in global trade and encourages any company that exports or is considering exporting to join our association.” stated Brad Collins, President of the SLWTA. The SLWTA was formed in 1987 and features experts in international trade, compliance, and economics at monthly membership meetings.
