Scholarship recipient is studying chiropractic, acupuncture and oriental medicine
PALMYRA, Wis. (September 8, 2011)—The 2011 Dr. Robert Curry Scholarship was recently presented by Standard Process Inc. to Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) student Katie Ngan. Ngan is the first recipient of the $10,000 scholarship, which was awarded during the university’s Centennial Extravaganza Gala Dinner held last month.
Ngan, a ninth trimester student at SCU studying chiropractic, and acupuncture and oriental medicine, credits her parents and everyone at SCU who encouraged her to apply for the scholarship and Standard Process for selecting her. “I cannot thank Standard Process enough for choosing me to be the first recipient of the Dr. Robert Curry Scholarship,” said Ngan. “As a future chiropractor, acupuncturist, and Ayurvedic practitioner, in order to become the best healer I can for my patients, I know it is important to learn the role whole food nutrition plays in healthy lifestyles.”
The Dr. Robert Curry Scholarship is designed to inspire SCU students to study whole food nutrition while pursuing their degree in alternative health care. Standard Process created the scholarship program in 2010 to honor retiring Standard Process distributor and SCU alumnus Robert Curry, D.C. Throughout his 20-year career representing Standard Process, Curry was dedicated to educating fellow practitioners on the value of using whole food nutrition to help maintain a healthy lifestyle. The scholarship program will provide $10,000 to a selected SCU student each year for the next five years.
“Standard Process is committed to supporting students who have an interest in implementing nutrition into their future practices,” said John Nab, D.C., director of professional development at Standard Process. “By learning how nutrition affects health outcomes they can support their patients’ total wellbeing from the very start.”
To be considered for the Dr. Robert Curry Scholarship, applicants must:
* Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.9 or higher
* Provide a list of their contributions to the profession, SCU, and the community
* Provide a letter of recommendation from an SCU professor
* Submit a 500-750 word essay on how they will incorporate nutritional therapy into a chiropractic practice For additional information about Standard Process’ scholarship programs, contact Chiropractic Relations at Standard Process by calling (800) 848-5061.
