(Eau Claire, WI)… Silver Spring Beer ‘n Brat Horseradish Mustard and Silver Spring Organic Deli Mustard with Horseradish took home medals at the World-Wide National Mustard Competition, Madison, Wisconsin. Beer’n Brat, which even sports a mascot in honor of Silver Spring’s most popular mustard, won gold. Organic Deli Mustard took silver.

The Eau-Claire based Silver Spring Foods, the world’s largest grower and processor of horseradish, was also awarded a bronze for Kelchner’s Hot Horseradish Mustard. Silver Spring Foods purchased the Pennsylvania-based Kelchner’s Horseradish Company two years ago.

Eric Rygg, marketing manager at Silver Spring Foods, said the competition was as “hot as the mustards.” A total of 347 mustards were judged from 9 countries. The event, formally held in Napa Valley has moved to the National Mustard Museum in Middleton, a suburb of Madison, Wi.

“The secret to our Silver Spring mustards and sauces begins with the highest-quality ingredients, from the horseradish roots grown on our own Wisconsin farm to the mustard seed we mill in our Eau Claire factory,” Rygg said. “We are committed to adding more horseradish and specialty mustard products, as consumers continue to search for healthy condiment alternatives, which mustard and horseradish offer. We are now launching Silver Spring Whole Grain Mustard which contains no fat.”

Silver Spring Foods, Inc., has been family owned for 82 years.
