Event Features Special Promotions, Chance to win Round-Trip Airline Tickets

Shorewood, Wis., May 24, 2011 – The Shorewood Business Improvement District (BID) is hosting a new summer retail event, the Tour de Shops, to extend the excitement leading up to the 8th Annual Shorewood Criterium Cycling Classic, which takes place on June 16 beginning at 5 p.m.

The Criterium, presented by the Shorewood BID, is the first race in the 2011 Tour of America’s Dairyland (ToAD), a series of cycling races throughout the state of Wisconsin. Shorewood’s Criterium is held on a short course through residential and commercial streets, with international professional and amateur cyclists riding laps until the time and distance limit (60 minutes plus five laps) is reached.

The Tour de Shops retail event takes place June 11-15 and will feature a variety of great specials and fun promotions from participating Shorewood businesses who will be identified with colorful red, white and blue flags. Shoppers in Shorewood can pick up a “Passport to Savings” at participating businesses or at Shorewood Village Hall, and have it stamped at participating locations. Bike taxis will be available during Tour de Shops kick-off day, Saturday, June 11, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. to transport shoppers around the business district.

Stamped passports should be turned in at PNC Bank Shorewood, 4231 N. Oakland, by 5pm Wednesday, June 15 to be entered into the Tour de Shops prize drawings. Prizes include a Spa Package from The Establishment Salon, a photo shoot and wall portrait from Gloss Photography Studios or a grand prize of two round-trip airline tickets, courtesy of Criterium Title Sponsor Tim Hart, D.D.S.

“The Tour de Shops invites people to explore our business district, take advantage of promotional offers and have fun getting their passports stamped so they can enter our prize drawing,”,” said Shorewood BID Executive Director Jim Plaisted. “It’s a fun way to start off the summer and build momentum for the Criterium, which has become extremely popular in Shorewood.”
