Sheboygan County EDC: Hires Checolinski as new community development & research specialist

The Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) has hired Dane Checolinski as its new community development & research specialist. Dane was previously the Economic Development Coordinator for the City of Marengo, Illinois. He earned a master’s degree in public administration from Northern Illinois University, and received his bachelor’s degree in public policy and administration from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Prior to working for the City of Marengo, Checolinski worked for the City of Whitewater and Walworth County, Wisconsin. He was also sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserves with an army engineer unit out of Pewaukee. During his time in the Army Reserves, he served in Afghanistan.

“We’re excited to have Dane aboard, as his previous experience in economic development and his youthful optimism have helped him hit the ground running in Sheboygan County,” said Patrick Drinan, SCEDC’s executive director.“ We look forward to Dane’s contributions in expanding the reach and impact of the SCEDC in serving businesses and communities throughout the county.”

Checolinski has significant prior experience in supporting and creating economic opportunities at the local level. In Marengo, Checolinski spearheaded a business incentive program and gained broad community support to help secure $14 million in capital investment and create over 50 jobs for a community of 7,500 residents in the heart of the recession. “I’m excited to return to Wisconsin and join a vibrant organization. It feels good to call Sheboygan County my new home,” said Checolinski.

He will provide a boost to the SCEDC’s mission of improving the economic well-being and long-term prosperity of the business, residents, and communities of Sheboygan County. “Dane has already exhibited the skills and ability to be a key contributor in helping fulfill the Promise of Sheboygan County,” added Drinan.

Checolinski fills the position previously held by Jessica Potter, who is the Assistant Village Clerk-Treasurer/Administrator for the Village of Elkhart, Wisconsin.
