Sheboygan — On Wednesday evening more than 350 attendees celebrated and applauded the 2010 achievements of businesses and individuals at their inaugural Chamber Champions Dinner & Awards Gala at Blue Harbor Resort and Conference Center.

Board President Matt Quasius, Quasius Construction, called the event the right thing to do a the right time. “As we all strive to work ourselves up and out of the Great Recession together, this event brings all of us together to celebrate collective success,” he said.

Businesses and individuals were recognized for significant growth, chamber commitment, community involvement, partnerships, advancement, safety and tourism efforts.

Winning the prestigious Business of the Year awards, sponsored by Rohde Dales, were Elkhart Lake’s Road America (large business) and Olivu 426 (small business).

Winning the Non-Profit of the Year award sponsored by Locate Staffing was the Sheboygan & Plymouth Area United Way.

Winning the Working Together award sponsored by Locate Staffing was the Elkhart Lake Top Chef Fundraiser and the Voluntary Income Tax Assistance Program.

Winning the Safety Leader award sponsored by Lakeshore Technical College was Faith Technologies.

Winning the Community Volunteer award sponsored by Northwestern Mutual Financial Network was Sandy Livermore for her development of the Bookworm Gardens.

Winning the Hospitality Star award sponsored by Sheboygan Tourism Board was Elkhart Lake’s Road America.

Winning the Chamber Superstar award sponsored by Associated Bank was Jim Maxon, 2010 Chamber president and community president of M&I Bank.

Also receiving recognition was Laurel Schirmer, 2010 Chamber Ambassador of the Year. Schirmer works for the Sheboygan Area School District.

The Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce serves 830 member organizations representing more than 40,000 employees in Sheboygan County.
