PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. – (March 16, 2011) – As the St. Catherine’s Medical Center Campus’ vertical expansion comes to a close, Riley Construction has been selected by United Hospital System to provide construction management services on the build-out of a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on the new third floor.

The $5.6 million project includes the full 25,000-square-foot build-out of shelled space, creating a new full service NICU and Pediatrics Department. This will include 12 private pediatric rooms, five private NICU rooms (including one set-up for twins) and six additional swing rooms for use as either pediatric or NICU rooms.

The six month project will be completed by summer 2011. The design is being led by Welman Architects of Waukesha, Wis.

Additionally, the new two-story, 32,000-square-foot medical office building currently under construction on the St. Catherine’s Medical Center Campus has now doubled in size by adding two additional floors to its current design. This will provide another 30,000 square feet of physician office space and make it a four-story, 62,000-square-foot facility.

The original plan included 10,000 square feet of ambulatory care space for the national pain care center Advanced Pain Management to lease on the first floor with another 4,000 square feet used for outpatient rehabilitation services and the remaining 2,000 square feet for common area. The second floor’s 16,000 square feet is designated for physician office space.

The two-story addition to the existing plan includes approximately 15,000 square feet of space for each floor earmarked for future development of physician offices and common area. This expansion during construction is designed to avoid disruption to patients, guests and employees when the building is operational, while being more cost-effective in the long-run.

The now $10.2 million medical office building is still on schedule to be completed by July 2011. Riley Construction continues as the project’s construction manager and Eppstein Uhen Architects of Milwaukee is providing design services.
