Reliable Water Services and IBA Wisconsin Seek ‘Beat the Odds’ Biz Stories

April 6, 2011 –Wisconsin businesses that have overcome challenging situations with success are invited to enter the second annual “How I Got My Business Out Of Hot Water” Challenge. This is a short essay contest where business owners share a compelling story about how they got out of a challenging situation and made their business even stronger.

Reliable Water Services, a local provider of commercial water heaters, boilers and water softeners; and the Independent Business Association of Wisconsin (IBAW) invite Wisconsin business owners to submit a 500-750 word essay at http://www.hotwater247.com. Here, companies can tell about how handing a specific challenge helped them strengthen their business strategy. The site has contest rules and details.

The grand prize winning entry will receive $2,500; second prize winner will receive a new iPad 2 or $500 cash; third prize winner will receive a Mini Netbook or $350 cash. Deadline for entries is midnight on Friday, May 27.

Winners will be announced at an awards breakfast meeting on Friday, July 15 sponsored by IBAW at the Wisconsin Club. Reliable will publicize the top three stories in the local business media.

Judges for the contest include Jon McGlocklin, entrepreneur and member of Bucks’ TV broadcasting team, Marcia Theusch, Assistant Vice President, Milwaukee Economic Development Corporation and Bart Adams, board officer for IBAW and a partner of Kolb+Company.

Last year’s grand prize winner Flexo-Graphics from Butler, Wis., found the contest to be a “cathartic way to share our learning experiences with other business owners,” said Tim McDonough, president. “We enjoyed reassuring others that no matter how bad things get, there are businesses going through an equal amount of pain and still coming out ahead.” Flexo-Graphics used their win as an opportunity to bond with employees at a celebration lunch.

“We were so thrilled to hear about the creative approaches that businesses are taking to overcome their financial and operational challenges and we look forward to sharing more great success stories this year,” said Lynne Robinson, president of Reliable Water Services.
