Cross-Country Trek Extended to Provide Promotional Spotlight and Financial Stimulus To Help Counter Quality-of-Life Crisis Triggered By Continued Economic Downturn

New Round of Voting via RD.com Open Now till May 16th to be 1 Of 10 Winning Cities In the Nation

The Reader Digest “We Hear You America” campaign is set to make stops at two Wisconsin area communities to help stimulate the economy with publicity giving each city the recognition it deserves and to present a check to each mayor to helping the community to get started on local projects.

The check presentation ceremony on April 17 will run as follows:

*KEWASKUM & WEST BEND – 4/17 at 9am, Regner Park; a joint presentation to Kewaskum Village President Andy Pesch and West Bend Mayor Kristin Deiss. The towns were chosen as two of the country’s best rebounding towns, home of Regal Ware, which has manufactured more than 5 million canteens for the Boy Scouts.

Reader’s Digest, the world’s largest global editorial brand, whose name is synonymous with “getting to the heart of the matter,” hit the road for a 100-city RV tour on a journey of renewal designed to showcase the “Best in America” this past January. Due to the overwhelming response, Reader’s Digest is expanding the campaign by opening the competition on rd.com to begin a new round of cheering so town can rally and have the opportunity for their community to win promotional and economic stimulus. The next round of voting runs thru May 16th 2011.

The cross-country trek is taking the RV thru 100 towns in 100 days, providing promotional and financial stimulus to help cities counter the quality of life cuts triggered by the economic downturn. Individuals have been voting to receive the stimulus for their communities by “cheering” (vote) for their hometown via http://www.rd.com. The 10 new towns that “cheer” the loudest (received the most votes) will win the bulk of the stimulus in addition to the 10 original winning towns. An additional 90 towns (selected by the Reader’s Digest editorial team) will receive stimulus checks to put toward worthwhile civic projects, along with a visit by the Reader’s Digest RV and a national stage to showcase their town, via coverage in Reader’s Digest and rd.com .

The Reader’s Digest “We Hear You America” RV tour will bring the three brand ambassadors representing Reader’s Digest to the city to meet with the mayor to distribute the city the stimulus funds in the form of a check, and coverage in Reader’s Digest properties and other media. Features/activities during the RD/RV Tour include:

* A video booth to collect testimonials from people about what makes their town Best of America.
