Quarles & Brady: Two Quarles & Brady attorneys elected district representatives on State Board of Governors

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (July 14, 2011) — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced that Andrew P. Beilfuss and Thomas J. Phillips, attorneys in the Firm’s Milwaukee office, have been elected as District Representatives on the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Board of Governors. They began their two-year terms on July 1, 2011.

Mr. Beilfuss, an attorney in the Litigation and Corporate Services Groups, focuses his practice primarily on litigation, often in the franchise and product marketing and distribution context. He also advises on contract drafting and regulatory matters, including advising on product distribution, state and federal franchise laws, the Uniform Commercial Code, terms and conditions of sale and state distribution, and relationship laws. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Marquette University Law School and his B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Mr. Phillips, a partner in the Corporate Services Group, focuses his practice in the area of taxation providing tax analysis, advice and tax opinions to publicly held and closely held business entities. His more than 36 years of experience include representation of clients in and structuring tax-free reorganizations and mergers, spinoffs, cross border transactions, taxable asset and stock purchase transactions, partnership transactions, and private placement investments in limited partnerships and limited liability companies involving hedge funds, distressed company investments, commercial real estate, value company investments and low income housing tax credit projects. He earned his LL.M. (in Taxation) from New York University School of Law, his J.D. from the University of Utah College of Law and his B.A. from the University of Minnesota.

The Board of Governors, the State Bar’s policy-making body, manages and directs the affairs and activities of the State Bar of Wisconsin.

The State Bar of Wisconsin is the mandatory professional association, created by the Wisconsin Supreme Court, for attorneys who hold a Wisconsin law license.
