Quarles & Brady: Three Quarles & Brady attorneys receive a Pro Bono Award

MADISON, Wis. (May 20, 2011) — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced that three of its Madison-based attorneys have been selected as recipients of a Pro Bono Award by the Seventh Circuit Bar Association.

The Seventh Circuit Bar Association Award recognizes their work representing two state prisoners with serious mental illnesses in civil rights matters. Their advocacy resulted in substantial changes in the way segregated prisoners are treated in the Wisconsin prison system. They were honored at the association’s annual dinner in Milwaukee on May 16.

The Quarles & Brady Pro Bono Award recipients include:

Gregory T. Everts, is a partner with the Firm’s Commercial Litigation Group. He is a business and intellectual property litigator with extensive experience in trials, hearings, arbitrations, settlement negotiations, and defense of federal and state regulatory enforcement actions. He received his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School, his master’s degree from Princeton University and his bachelor’s degree, with honors, from the University of Wisconsin.

Elyce M. Wos, is a member of the Firm’s Commercial Litigation Group. She is a business litigator with experience handling breach of contract actions, shareholder disputes and insurance subrogation matters. She received her law degree, magna cum laude, master’s, and bachelor’s degree, with distinction, from the University of Wisconsin.

Cristina M. Choi, is a member of the Firm’s Corporate Services Group. Her practice includes business planning and formation, mergers and acquisitions, commercial contracting and insurance regulatory compliance. She earned her law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin and her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University.

Xavier Santistevan, a paralegal in the Firm’s Commercial Litigation Group, was also a recipient.
