MADISON-Spring has arrived and so has Diggers Hotline Week of May 16 through May 22 in Wisconsin. The PSC is encouraging that you call the Diggers Hotline before all your outdoor home improvement digging projects. Don’t let a digging accident ruin your outdoor project, electrical connections, and productive spring weekend.

Underground Wisconsin is comprised of intricate substructures of pipelines, wires, cables and digging without proper knowledge of what’s below you, can cause harm to you or those around you, disrupt service, and potentially result in fines and repair costs.

Diggers Hotline is Wisconsin’s statewide one-call notification system. It gives excavators and the general public the ability to notify multiple owners of underground facilities with a single call. Remember to allow three working days (excluding weekends and holidays) before you dig. Failure to call before you start your outdoor project has resulted in more than 200,000 unintentionally digging accidents annually across the nation.

To file a free request contact the Diggers Hotline by either dialing 811 or (800) 242-8511 or online at: http://www.DiggersHotline.com. Contacting and notifying the Digger’s Hotline before every digging project such as excavating, digging trenches, drilling, tunneling, scraping, plowing cable or pipe, planting trees, shrubs, building a deck, installing rural mailbox can help prevent outages, disturbances, and is required by state law (Wisconsin Statute 182.0175).
