Milwaukee, WI – May 24, 2011 – Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling of Southeast Wisconsin continues to donate time, labor and materials during the company’s annual Paul Davis Restoring America community service project. The work began on May 13 and will continue for several weeks. The Paul Davis office staff and volunteers along with local businesses and vendors are remodeling Dan and Amy De Matthew’s kitchen at 3618 Poe Avenue in Racine. The project is designed to help Dan who suffers with a spinal injury that he sustained in 2009 from a bicycle accident. The injuries resulted in quadriplegia and a significant loss of feeling in his arms and legs. Dan may regain some use of his arms and legs through therapy, however he is currently confined to a motorized wheelchair and crutches.

The Paul Davis project will provide the De Matthew’s family with an updated kitchen that is easier for Dan to navigate. The project includes a sustainability theme with recycled cabinetry going into the new kitchen, reuse of stone countertops and donating existing cabinets to Habitat Restore in Racine. Paul Davis will also incorporate other sustainable materials and construction practices.

To date, new flooring has been installed. Drywall and painting is currently in progress and cabinets will be installed during the week of May 23. Countertops will be installed starting on May 31.

According to Jayme Lippe, Paul Davis’ Remodeling Manager, the project scope includes demolition of the kitchen and removal of cabinets, counters, flooring and preparation for installation and construction work. Each year, the Paul Davis office provides help for those in need through its Restoring America program, an annual home improvement initiative designed to help those who cannot afford or are physically unable to fix up their homes.

“We are making a difference in the lives of our good friends. Dan and Amy are deserving recipients of the company’s ‘Restoring America’ this year. We are happy to help them by making much-needed home repairs,” said Meg Boyle, Paul Davis’ Vice President and CFO. “The commitment of labor and materials from our valued vendors and trades people is truly appreciated,” she said.
