Milwaukee, WIJuly 11, 2011Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling of Southeast Wisconsin

has completed a local project and the donation of time, labor and materials during the company’s annual Restoring America community service project. The work began on May 13 with the remodeling of Dan and Amy De Matthew’s kitchen at 3618 Poe Avenue in Racine. Paul Davis office staff and volunteers along with local businesses and vendors helped to improve Dan’s quality of life while he suffers with a spinal injury sustained in 2009 from a bicycle accident. The injuries resulted in quadriplegia and a significant loss of feeling in Dan’s arms and legs. He may regain some use of his arms and legs through therapy, but is now confined to a motorized wheelchair and crutches.

The Paul Davis project provided the De Matthew’s family with an updated kitchen that is easier for Dan to navigate. The project features a sustainability theme with recycled cabinetry in the new kitchen, reuse of stone countertops and a donation of existing cabinets to Habitat Restore in Racine. Paul Davis also incorporated other sustainable materials and construction practices including flooring, drywall and paint, among others.

According to Jayme Lippe, Paul Davis’ Remodeling Manager, the project scope included demolition of the kitchen and removal of cabinets, counters, flooring and preparation for installation and construction work. Each year, the Paul Davis office provides help for those in need through its Restoring America program, an annual home improvement initiative designed to help those who cannot afford or are physically unable to fix up their homes.

“We have provided a more comfortable and safe home environment for our good friends. Dan and Amy are deserving recipients of the company’s ‘Restoring America’ project this year,” said Meg Boyle, Paul Davis’ Vice President and CFO. “They have a history of helping many of their neighbors and we are happy to now help them by making some much-needed home repairs,” she said. “The commitment of labor and materials from our valued vendors and trades people is truly appreciated.”

Participating vendors include: American Appliance (microwave), Anderson Plumbing (labor), Bear Electric (labor), Carpetland (flooring and installation), Design House (electrical fixtures), Ideal Drywall (paint, drywall and labor), KG Stevens (counter installation and fabrication), Lowes (blinds), RMS Tile (custom tile and labor), Sorce Services (dumpster).
