MADISON, WIS., August 8, 2011 — The Overture Center for the Arts has selected 5NINES, a locally owned Cloud service provider, as its IT partner to assist in transitioning Overture from the City of Madison’s technology environment to a stand-alone technology environment, to be managed and supported by 5NINES. The move is part of the overall plan to transition Overture’s operations to the nonprofit Overture Center Foundation, effective January 1, 2012.

Among the many challenges of the plan, the transition of Overture’s IT environment is one of the most critical as it not only supports admin, but is the backbone of the production side of Overture as well, facilitating lighting, sound, ticketing, database management and stage management requirements.

5NINES has the expertise and resources necessary to manage all aspects of Overture’s information technology needs, covering production, employee and volunteer users as well as patron services like Internet via WiFi.

5NINES’ approach will be to transition Overture’s IT environment to a level equal to or slightly exceeding its current environment, allowing the organization to establish itself and succeed as a standalone entity. The benefits Overture will see from this transition include:

-Increased attention to Overture’s technology needs and readily available IT support. 5NINES is located across the street from Overture, and support is available 24/7/365.

-A technical infrastructure that can scale to support fast growth, at levels that may be unpredictable.

-Ability to create an advanced IT environment that will support expanded service offerings, including live streaming video of events and advanced wireless access for conference attendees.

-Separate networks designed for user flexibility and security requirements as well as robust high-speed Internet connection and redundancy. 5NINES has multiple experts in local area, wide area, private and wireless networks.

-Cloud computing will allow for collaborative and shared data environments (Microsoft SharePoint, Exchange, Remote Desktop Services and Lync), which can be accessed from anywhere, anytime and will improve productivity.

-Standardization of user devices, applications, operating systems and file management will allow for economical updates and reduce future management expenses and end of life issues.

“5NINES is proud to be selected as Overture’s IT partner,” says John Wagner, director of business development at 5NINES. “As an active supporter of the Madison community and a patron of the arts, 5NINES looks forward to helping Overture succeed in this critical transition and for many years to come.”

“To us, IT is not just an administrative function, but a crucial customer service tool,” says Overture Center CEO Tom Carto. “We welcome nearly half a million people every year, each of them looking for amazing artistic experiences. We aim to meet their expectations in every respect, from the first time they call or visit overturecenter.com to the moment the curtain falls and they wander out into the night. The kind of IT services 5NINES provides will allow us to do that.”
