Opus team takes home three awards at annual AGC reception

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee office of Opus Development Corporation (Opus) was recognized with three awards at the annual Association of General Contractors (AGC) of Greater Milwaukee’s Past President’s & Awards night.

At the May 17 event, Jeff Panella, Opus field superintendent, received the Gil Czapleski Superintendent of the Year Award. The AGC Board of Directors cited Panella’s exemplary skill and leadership as the superintendent on the $85 Million Marquette University Law School project as the motives for their decision.

Opus field foreman Jeremy Sowin was also honored at the event. Sowin recently graduated from the AGC’s Supervisory Training Program (STP). The STP is a construction-specific training curriculum consisting of 12 comprehensive courses that focus on knowledge and skills that every supervisor must have to be an effective manager of people, time, equipment and materials. Sowin was honored as this year’s only STP graduate.

Opus also took home a leadership in safety award. The award is given to those companies that have a low incident rate.

“These are great honors, for Jeff, Jeremy and the entire Opus team,” said Julie Ledger, Vice President & General Manager for Opus Development Corporation. “We are fortunate to have Jeff and Jeremy as members of our team here at Opus.”

The Milwaukee office of Opus Development Corporation is one of the region’s leading full-service real estate development and design-build firms.
