Neenah, Wis.—Miron Construction Co., Inc. was recently recognized by The Daily Reporter newspaper, for two of the 2010 Top Projects in Wisconsin. The Daily Reporter is a statewide construction newspaper distributed throughout Wisconsin. Miron received the awards for the Milwaukee Job Corps Center located in Milwaukee and for St. Norbert College’s Schneider Stadium Athletic Complex in De Pere.

The awards recognize members of the construction industry (generals, subcontractors, architects engineers and owners) whose projects met and exceeded expectations in the year prior. This year’s Top Projects event honored 30 outstanding Wisconsin construction projects completed in 2010. To view a list of the winning projects, please visit http://dailyreporter.com/top-projects/.

The Milwaukee Job Corps Center

This $28 million project for the US Department of Labor included eight different buildings totaling 150,000 square feet on 25 acres. The job corps program serves students over the age of 16 who are at-risk. The mission is to teach them the skills they need to become employable and independent, and place them in meaningful jobs or further education. The design goal was to create a living/learning community that engages and motivates students from diverse backgrounds. The dense, internally-focused campus forms many places for the 300 students to interact both formally and informally through learning spaces, dormitories, a cafeteria and recreation spaces.

St. Norbert College Schneider Stadium Athletic Complex

The $11.2 million St. Norbert College Schneider Stadium Athletic Complex includes a stadium with a capacity for 2,500 spectators and serves as the practice and competition venue for football, soccer and track and field. The new athletic complex includes a 400-meter track with an all-weather surface, appropriate areas to conduct all field events, field turf for football and soccer competition, and a locker room building with lockers and showers to accommodate more than 200 home and visiting athletes. The new location also makes it easier for students and visitors to attend athletic events. The infrastructure of the new complex certainly improves the experiences for student athletes and spectators with the inclusion of: a press box with 34 spaces for journalists, coaches and game administration staff; ticket and information booths; paved parking lot with capacity for 500 cars; men’s and women’s restrooms; and concession preparation and sales areas.
