Madison International Trade Association: May 13 breakfast meeting with Wis. International Trade Office directors

and Special Session on Business Dynamics in Russia & Former Soviet States

Friday, May 13, 2011

7:30 AM – 10:00 AM

Madison Marriott West

On Friday, May 13 the Madison International Trade Association (MITA) will feature a series of timely presentations on market opportunities around the world by the Directors of Wisconsin’s International Trade Offices in Brazil, Canada, China and Mexico.

Following these presentations, there will be a special session on “Business Dynamics in Russia and Former Soviet Economies,” by Trevor Gunn, senior director of international relations for Medtronic, Inc.

Russia and the former Soviet states are fast-growing economies that promise exciting opportunities for U.S. companies. Still, the government remains a powerful player in these former Communist countries. As U.S. companies consider entering or expanding in Russia and the former Soviet states, business leaders must stay informed about the risks and possibilities of the region’s investment environment, including governments’ key economic and political priorities and their policies toward foreign investors.

Prior to joining Medtronic, Gunn served for over 10 years as director of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Business Information Service for the Newly Independent States (BISNIS), a U.S. government clearinghouse for doing business in the former Soviet Union. Gunn’s talk will provide an overview of the international business climate in Russia and the former Soviet states.

AGENDA:

7:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. – Registration and Continental Breakfast with Networking

8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. – Directors presentations on international business
